About

College first opened its doors to 82 pupils in February 1854 with the purpose of providing girls with a thorough academic education. We have remained committed to that pioneering goal, while adapting to a complex and changing world. We are currently one of the largest communities of boarding and day girls in Europe. Today, around 850 pupils from around the world benefit from the knowledge and expertise gained over the last 160 years of putting girls first.

All girls enjoy the teaching and specialist care of our highly qualified academic and pastoral staff, with Housemistresses and Tutors available to give advice and guidance at every stage of a girl’s life. The commitment of our staff is backed by excellent facilities. Your daughter will be taken seriously; her ideas will be listened to; her concerns will be addressed. She will be joining a school which is supportive, interested in her and challenging.

This all contributes to successes both inside and outside the classroom. Our girls consistently achieve results at the very highest level in GCSE, A Level and IB examinations, alongside the pursuit of co-curricular and charitable activities.

We are proud of the strong tradition of innovation, imagination, creativity and service that have been the hallmarks of College for 160 years and that we continue to be a pioneering force in the pursuit of educational opportunities for young women.
